First newsletter for the TOUCHSWITZERLAND EUROPEAN TOUCH CHAMPIONSHIPS 2022 campaign.

Dear Player,

The Touch Switzerland journey to the Touch European Championship 2022 has started! Thank you for registering your interest.

We would like to invite you to attend the Swiss Touch Training and Squad Selection Days. These will take place on Sunday, 14th and Saturday, 27th November 2021. The sessions will take place in Bern (Details of the exact locations will be shared in advance) and they will run from 10:00 – 16:00 on the 14th and 12:00 -18:00 on the 27th. These sessions are for everyone who has expressed an interest as potential European Touch Championship players, irrespective of age. (With the exception of the M45’s)

For the Women, Rebecca Fitzgerald, Women’s National Coach, will run the session and be joined by Women's Assistant Coach, Cliodhna Phelan, and Women’s Technical Coach, Dan Fitzgerald. For the Men, coaches for these sessions will be Peter Ryland, Pasqual Neuweiler and Men’s Assistant Coach Thomas Blaser.

Activities will include skills, drills, fitness activities and games/game-based training.  Players are kindly asked not to wear previous Swiss Touch training or playing kit when attending these sessions.  Please ensure that you bring sufficient supplies (Drinks, lunch and snacks) to sustain your training for each day.

Selection Process

Throughout the training and squad selection days, players will be assessed on their attitude, technical skills, physical capabilities, fitness and teamwork skills.

Shortly after the training and squad selection days are complete, the squads will be announced. Successful players will be invited by the coaches into a "Training Squad". Each squad is likely to comprise 18-22 players.

Euro's Squad Training Dates – 2022

Final team selections will be made following the April 23rd/24th training weekend. We will select and name 16 players and 2 Train-On players per Team. The final Euro squads will then train approximately every 3-4 weeks in the lead-up to the European Championships which have been confirmed to take place in Nottingham, UK, from the 2-6th August, 2022.

Note: Non-attendance at the Training and Squad Selection Days will not rule out your selection for the provisional European Championship Squads. However, it is highly recommended given the timescales involved and it is highly beneficial to attend, even if you are unable to participate for both or part of the days.

Dear Swiss Touch members,

Following a two year hiatus of the European Touch Championship (Euros) the expectation is that the competition will take place in August 2022. This will be held once again in Nottingham, England.  

Whilst we await clarity on the confirmed dates we would like to begin our initial stage planning to give us the best possible preperation.  

At this stage all we need from you is an indication of your interest.
